The cities — read this first

Andalusia is large enough that "where to stay" is a city question before it is a property question. The four cities below absorb most slow-travel stays. Pick the city first; the property is the second decision.

• Sevilla — the regional capital, walkable old town, the Alcázar and Cathedral, year-round festival energy. The default first-Andalusia-stay pick if you want a real city with restaurants and life.
• Granada — the Alhambra, the Albaicín hillside, the Sacromonte caves, sierra views. Best for travelers who want a smaller-city base with Moorish-era depth and walkable nights.
